GEOTAGGED IMAGES BECOME ART
DATA VISUALISATION - I'm currently slightly obsessed with infographics and data visualisations. If you haven't got InformationIsBeautiful.net bookmarked or on your RSS reader, you should!
The maps above of New York and London created by Eric Fischer show where photographs have been taken. Location data comes from the public Flickr and Picasa search APIs.
As you can see the more photographs that are taken in a specific location the higher the concentration of lines. The images start to depict an interesting narrative as to where is popular and were isn't. It would be great to see this map in real-time, you would begin to see physical parts of your city 'trending'.

LONG LIVE MOTOR CITY
AUTOMOTIVE - Whilst in New York I had the pleasure of traveling upstate to check out the annual Rhinebeck Car Show. The cars were an amazing sight to be seen, they were weird, wacky and wonderful. It was a peek into real American culture, that I had never had the privilege to see before. Detroit really knew how to make a car and the American people still know to pimp them. You have to check out the Flickr page which has all the images [click here].

LEGAL GRAFFITI IN NEW YORK CITY
"5 Pointz is a free public outdoor art exhibit that spans a full city block in Long Island City, Queens. It is a commercial factory building that is almost entirely covered by Aerosol Art, more commonly known as graffiti. 5 Pointz is an organized outdoor gallery which is curated by Meres One. The walls painted on the building are all done with a permit after a review of the artists work and proper placement by Meres. The placement is decided on by the quality of the work, the time the artist is willing to spend on it will also determine the amount of time it will last. All murals are eventually gone over due to an influx of artists from all over the world, including the originators of this sub-culture and some of the most famous and talented to do it throughout the decades."

TAP’D [THAT]
Bottled water is been all over the press, for good reason. Mainly due to the point below:“Bottled water has been calculated to have a carbon footprint more than several hundred times bigger than tap water for some brands. Many bottles are transported thousands of miles to get to Britain from countries including the United States and Fiji”. The Times Onlnie.
We like Tap’d because there is no pretence, it’s exactly what is says on the bottle. It’s not claiming to make your hair grow thicker or make you more attractive to the opposite sex. Tap’d is New York tap water in a bottle. The tag line for the water is good fun, "No glaciers were harmed making this water".
As they put it themselves, “We don't travel the world from Fiji to France seeking water or offer the usual bottled water gimmicks” Tap’d.
Other brands should take note: keep it real, keep it honest.

ROOF WITH A VIEW
Spend Saturday night at the movies, overlooking the skyline of New York. A tad more exciting than your average cinematic experience. After this, being sat in a soulless multiplex with popcorn stuck to your feet will be the equivalent of the internet without joes[a]fiend - plain dull [depending on your opinion].Rooftop Films is a non-profit company, founded in Manhattan by filmmaker Mark Elijah Rosenberg in 1997, and since it has grown in popularity enormously. The films are projected on to a large screen, giving the audience previews of the best underground films every week, with locations varying from parks, to waterways and even on... you guessed it... rooftops.
