BEST SHOP

Whoever touted the “death of the season” was clearly mistaken! The future is many, lots, more... well six seasons to be precise. ‘Best Shop’ is a concept store based in Berlin, which showcases six seasons per year from contemporary fashion/jewellery designers. Previous designers that have been showcased include Atelier Elf and Henrik Vibskov.

At ‘Best Shop’ each season lasts sixty days before the arrival of the new. Mounted above the entrance to the store is a LED countdown clock which is replicated on the website. Sitting alongside the sixty day collections are other objects you’d expect to find in a store of this kind; design books, magazines, CDs…

We’re not too sure what Oscar Wilde would think of Best Shop:

DUBAI GETS COOL

Five Green is a concept store located in Dubai that incorporates urban lifestyle brands with contemporary arts exhibitions. The store stocks brands from Europe, the US and Canada (including XLarge, BoxFresh, Upper Playground).

The aspect I find most interesting about Five Green is that it is trying to showcase the new crop of creatives coming out of Dubai such as Chadiyo, Mona Ibrahim and Saadia Zahid. Dubai found notoriety for its large shopping malls and jewellery stores, I think it's great to see something new in this city that is growing at an astounding rate.

Exhibitions to be held at the store will include Charles & Ray Eames retrospective, supported by Vitra and Lomographic exhibitions and events.
