ADI DASSLER IS A REAL DIAMOND

ADI DASSLER

SNEAKERS - This year marks the 60th birthday of the Adidas brand founded by Adi Dassler who is the younger brother of Rudolf Dassler, known for founding Puma.

ADIDAS ADVERT

We've managed to get our grubby hands on a really fine selection of Adidas imagery ranging from iconic vintage kicks to some of the very first print advertising campaigns the brand ever created. Head over to our Flickr page to check them out or just click here.

THE ADIDAS STORY

The story of Adolf Dassler or more commonly known Adi Dassler, founder of Adidas is an interesting one. From watching this video I learnt a lot about the brand but also remembered that I really like the brand.

In recent years it would be fair to say they have barely even competed with Nike but the current crop of campaigns and marketing initiatives are putting Adidas back on the map. The first thing that pops into mind when I think Adidas is the amazing house party they threw in Berlin where they turned the No. 74 concept store into a house for the brands 60th birthday and threw a house party in the converted store.

This 2minute 56 second video really captures the essence of the brand and kindles a feeling that makes you want to be a part of the brand and it's heritage.

A WORLD CLASS PAIR

In these days of luminous synthetic monstrosities (and no, we're not talking about Simon Jordan) the Adidas World Cup football boot stands out on the park as something of integrity and class. To mark the occasion of the 30th anniversary of their release Adidas have created a rather neat little limited edition (1,978 individually numbered pairs – of which 100 are in the UK.)
For just shy of £200 you not only (!) get the classic boot (complete with contrast red studs) but also a great little boot bag containing all the essentials – brush, dubbing, cloth, stud key and replacement studs (all branded, of course.) For younger readers here is an image of the 1978 World Cup Final between Argentina v Holland; note how many players (and the ref?) are wearing Adidas - quite remarkable.
