THE AMERICAN PACKAGING MUSEUM

PACKAGING - I read about it, I collect it and now I blog about it. Packaging is one of those things that has the ability to define a point in time as does fashion.

So when I stumbled upon the American Packaging Museum site it was like all the bank holidays rolled into one convenient package. Be warned, you will end up browsing the site for a while. Probably best to check it out on your lunch break. It's a shame the photography is pretty poor.

TAP’D [THAT]

Bottled water is been all over the press, for good reason. Mainly due to the point below:

“Bottled water has been calculated to have a carbon footprint more than several hundred times bigger than tap water for some brands. Many bottles are transported thousands of miles to get to Britain from countries including the United States and Fiji”. The Times Onlnie.

We like Tap’d because there is no pretence, it’s exactly what is says on the bottle. It’s not claiming to make your hair grow thicker or make you more attractive to the opposite sex. Tap’d is New York tap water in a bottle. The tag line for the water is good fun, "No glaciers were harmed making this water".

As they put it themselves, “We don't travel the world from Fiji to France seeking water or offer the usual bottled water gimmicks” Tap’d.

Other brands should take note: keep it real, keep it honest.

MIND YOUR OWN BEESWAX

When we saw this Bee Raw packaging we instantly fell in love with the simplicity of its design. In an age where food packaging is overcomplicated, messy and screaming for attention on the supermarket shelf, Bee Raw is clean, simple and to the point.

“Bee Raw single varietal honey is as unique as its floral source - it can be compared to wine, tea, and coffee in its variety and complexity. Both distinction and quality are becoming a rarity in our culture and Bee Raw's goal is to make high-quality, varietal honeys more readily available to food lovers everywhere.” Bee Raw
