ORANGE ROAD SAFETY

"Text messaging while driving prevents you from seeing what really matters."

It's interesting to see Orange [Israel] taking the road safety matter into their own hands. This campaign highlights the dangers of texting whilst driving. Would you ever see Stella Artois supporting anti-drink driving campaigns? Nice to see brands taking a more civic attitude towards their advertising and marketing.

STOLEN FUR FASHION

We really like the advertising of animal rights group Peta. It always resonates, it sometimes shocks, sometimes its funny but it always makes you think about animal rights.

For this campaign they have enlisted the comedic skills of Ricky Gervais staring as the rabbit and Pink as the crocodile.

PROJECTED PUMA

Droga5 a New York based agency created this amazing campaign for Puma. The clothes are projected on the models, the concept comes into it's own when they bring in a cube [00:06] to project a chair on to the cube to give the images a sense of depth.

Thumbs up!

WHY WE LOVE PRINT

Don't get me wrong, digital content consumption is the present and very much the future. Who knows what that future may hold, is it a device like the Amazon Kindle? iPhone? Or is it a mobile phone with a projector built in? Or projections right onto our retinas?

The problem with all of these devices, is currently they FAIL from time to time. When these devices FAIL we get angry, feel let down then throw it out of the nearest open or closed window. When a print add on the tube (fails/) weathers we don't feel the same emotions as we would towards a digital screen. Until these devices that are becoming more and more prevalent in our everyday lives learn not to fail and become reliable, print will still be a major part of our lives.

This point couldn't be illustrated in a more poignant manor than when I was on the tube and one of the projects had FAILED. Next to it was a print advert for the redesigned Cadbury's Caramel bar. Or was it a great ploy to get even more attention to the new advert placed next to the FAILED projector? I doubt it. This in turn led me to think, why doesn't a brand buy three spaces on the tube platform and just put huge arrows on the outer billboards pointing towards the advert in the middle?

POP UP PORN

To say Pop Up Porn is a little graphic would be an understatement. The book depicts explicit sexual acts in the via the medium of pop up. Who ever said 'don't judge a book by its cover' should eat their words. We wont go into detail about the nature of each spread, as I am sure you can work it out for yourselves.

The book is totally handmade by Michele Chun and Miya Saito. Pop Up Porn is limited to 25 copies and priced at a reasonable $50 (lets not forget each is handmade). Take a peek at their Flickr page to see the making of Pop Up Porn.

THE FUTURE IS: SPOTIFY

"Spotify is a Sweden-based proprietary music streaming program, which allows instant listening to specific tracks or albums with almost no buffering delay. Music can be browsed by artists, albums or created playlists as well as by direct searches. Although it is not possible to save the streamed music for use outside the application, a link is provided to allow the listener to directly purchase the material via partner retailers." WIKI

I've heard a lot of noise about Spotify and until 30 minutes ago I hadn't actually used it. So, 30 minutes later... I'm hooked. The service is fantastic, the application is seamless, it streams full length tracks almost instantly and I am yet to hear an advert. The range of music available is vast... All I can say is download it and see for yourselves.

10 out of 10!
